    The CYL (cylinder) value denotes the strength of the astigmatism. Astigmatism means that the eye has difficulty focusing at certain angles. If you have a cylinder value, then you will also have an Axis value. If your prescription shows "DS", this means that you do not have an astigmatism, and you should leave the field blank.

    The Axis is the angle of the astigmatism correction and specifies where the astigmatism is on your eye. The measurement is in Degrees. The values range between 0 and 180. If you have a "Cylinder" value, then you must also have an Axis value. Please add it here or leave blank if you have no Axis reading.

    The Pupillary Distance (PD) is the distance between the centre of your pupils. Your PD is important in the lens-making process because it tells us where to centre your prescription in the frame you chose. 

    We require your PD Distance reading before we can proceed with preparing the lenses. Your optometrist will hold this information on your file.  Please contact them and send this information to us after you have placed your order.

    Please note that besides adding your script manually, California residents are also required to send us a valid prescription (dated within the previous 2 years). The following file formats are accepted: .pdf, .png, .jpeg, .doc, .docx.

    Please check the expiration date on your prescription to make sure it is still valid. If your prescription is more than 2 years old, you will need to attend another eye examination to bring your prescription up to date.

    If your order includes progressive lenses, we will send you a sample Surge frame.  You will need to attend your optometrist with the sample frame to obtain an accurate reading for your 'segment height'. At the same time, please request a 'Near PD' reading if this is not already recorded on your prescription. Please bear in mind that this process may delay the delivery of your order by up to 10 days.

    We offer two materials for prescription lenses - (1) NXT and (2) Polycarbonate (PC). Both are highly durable and offer superb impact resistance. NXT material however offers enhanced optical clarity over polycarbonate, especially for highly powered scripts. If your Sphere or Sphere reading in either eye is greater than -5.00 / +3.00, please contact us for advice on which lenses are available for your prescription.  Please also note that if you require an anti-fog coating, this is only available with NXT lenses.

    Our ORION-X anti-fog lens coating is a permanent coating  applied to the inner lens surface only and works in tandem with the ORION-X activation cloth (supplied). It is designed to help counteract lens fogging caused by body heat or moist exhaled breath that becomes trapped behind the lenses.

I’m extremely pleased with my Surge polarized glasses. I’ve never had a pair of sport safety glasses that were this comfortable to wear. The same holds for the retention system, super comfortable and easy to adjust. The lenses provide fantastic protection , are well vented, and the tint is perfect for either partly overcast or sunny conditions. I highly recommend these sunglasses.
